QUERÉTARO | Saturday, May 6, 2017.- Tigres has everything at stake this Saturday in Querétaro. A win would place them directly in the Playoffs, and offer the opportunity to reach sixth position on the General Table as well as the Fiesta Grande (the Playoffs) for the sixth consecutive occasion.
Right now, the felines are ranked eighth, inside the qualification zone, so it’s all up to them now. In fact, a draw or a loss could keep them there, but it would depend on several results.
Historically, the universitarios have achieved positive results against the Gallos Blancos. Out of 23 matches between the two sides, Tigres has achieved 11 victories, which translates into a winning effectiveness of 48%.
Records show just six defeats and six draws against Querétaro, although in La Corregidora Stadium, home of the Gallos Blancos, Ricardo Ferretti’s men also have the upper hand, since of the 11 matches played there, four have ended in a victory for UANL and five in a tie.
In the last seven times Tigres has visited Querétaro, the balance has been in favor of the universitarios, with just a single loss, but two victories and five draws achieved.
This match could also mean a historical event for the felines’ manager, since, if the Tigres makes it to the Playoffs, this would be the first occasion in his career as a manager that he has led a team six consecutive times to the Fiesta Grande.
Today the felines could be setting out on a new path toward yet another title. Qualification would give Tigres the opportunity to fight for something that only two teams have achieved in short tournaments in Mexican football, to become two-time Champions.
