SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA | Tuesday, February 7, 2017.- The narrowing margin of error for Tigres in the 2017 Winter Tournament (Clausura) means that they cannot afford to lose points if they hope to qualify to the Playoffs, acknowledged Damián Álvarez, a feline midfielder, who also reiterated that they are on the verge of achieving positive results.
“That percentage (of error) will become increasingly lower; having that number of points wasn’t in our plans. The reality is we only have four points, with three defeats, and the margin of error is getting narrower.
“We can’t think about the 12 fixtures left, but only the upcoming match and then the next one, just as we did before in a similar situation (we experienced),” commented ‘Enano’.
They know that this difficult streak will come to an end.
“Evidently, we’re experiencing the opposite of our prior performance. We should have sufficient capacity, firstly in our football skills, to revert this moment, and then the corresponding patience in the knowledge that this streak will eventually be over.
“Right now is a good time to realize that we need to change a few things, particularly because of the results, and, looking toward playing in Pachuca, give our absolute best, achieve a victory, and I feel that we need to get out of the zone where we are as soon as possible.”
Right now, we need to focus on the same goal.
“It would be normal to call it a crisis because of everything the team achieved at some point. It’s very easy to talk about the good times and say so many nice things about a team, it’s normal for everyone to take this rosy attitude. I think that we should focus on continuing to be the strong, united team; right now, more than ever, we don’t want to be where we are.
We need to have the intelligence and capacity to know how to handle this moment, because things can’t always be like they were a while ago. I know that we have it in us to overcome this situation and mustn’t consider either the good part or this bad part, but simply get back on track as soon as possible.”
Happy to be considered the fifth best team in Mexican football by Mitofsky.
“It’s something that’s very important given all the tireless work of so many people, the directors, the players and coaches, the fans and so many more people. The team has become national. There are many Tigres is so many places nationwide, which is the outcome of hard work, achieving our goals, and always reaching high; it’s just fifth (place) and we want more.”
