A first win for the ladies: 2-0!

SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, August 5.-Tigres Women raise their hands in the Liga MX and celebrate their first win after beating Guadalajara Chivas 2-0, in a match that will go down in the history of the Universitario Stadium.

What happened last night, after the Tigres vs Querétaro match, was historical, since not only was it the first Tigres Women’s to be played at the Universitario, but they also did so in front of 8 thousand fans who chose to stay on for another two hours to watch them play, in addition to the supporters who arrived just to see the feline women’s squad.

At minute three, Blanca Solís became the first female player to score a goal for Tigres in the professional Women’s League, opening the scoring after taking advantage of a poor save by Chivas’ goalkeeper.

Four minutes later, Karen Luna had an opportunity for the hosts with a shot from outside the box that went wide of the left post.

Later, at 12’, Carolina Jaramillo scored the second, with a left-footed shot that found the upper left corner of the net. The Incomparable Ones went wild in the stands where the cry of “Ehhhhh Tigres” could be heard every time the opponent’s goalkeeper cleared the ball.

At 15’, Nayeli Rangel’s header came close to the goal, then again at 36’, and later, at 41’, Nancy Antonio smashed the ball into the left post, reflecting Tigres’ clear dominance over Guadalajara.

It was Sully Mercado’s turn at 43’ with a shot that went wide of the left post and then another at 45’ which was saved by goalkeeper Rebaño.

Our side started the second half somewhat more cautiously, with the idea of mainlining ball possession, leaving fast-paced counterattacks as their best option to score the third.

Tigres netkeeper, Ana Gaby Paz, bravely saved her team with a spectacular save despite receiving a hard knock.

Chivas was beginning to disturb Tigres Women’s goalkeeper, since Viramontes’ attempt at 51’ skimmed past the right post, and, afterwards, at 62’, María Sánchez smashed a ball into the crossbar.

Just when Chivas was lessening their pace, Norma Duarte appeared with a shot from outside the box, forcing Paz to concede a corner, though she did so with a magnificent leap into the air.

But Sully Mercado wasn’t ready to give up and almost scored the third after at 75’, crashing the ball onto the crossbar following a set-piece situation.

At 80’, Nayeli Rangel nearly had the third, with a header toward the far post, but the Rebaño’s goalkeeper made a fine save at point-blank range.  In the end, Tigres Women not only achieved their first victory in the Women’s Liga MX, but also made history in the Universitario Stadium, earning the admiration of thousands of incomparable fans.
