An all-round preseason
RIVIERA MAYA, June 28.- Strength, power, physical fitness, group unity and carrying out each exercise together, is what the UANL Tigres squad is developing in the Apertura 2017 preseason.
On the third day of activities in the Mexican Caribbean, the team has run through all the phases on which it will be working until July 7. Physical exercise on the golf course was the first phase, the next day they went to the gym and today the players trained on the beach.
In the afternoons, manager Ricardo Ferretti takes over to work on definition in the zone and goal shots with the offensive players, and on recovery and overlapping for the group of elements who play from the midfield back.
A key part of the training is conducted by assistant coaches Miguel Mejía Barón and Hugo Hernández, who pour their energy into supervising the physical work, together with Guillermo Orta, and specific on-pitch work.
Both coaches provide significant support for Tuca when determining the starting 11 for each match, and when seeking to improve or reinforce the capacity of each one of the players – offense and defense alike.
In this preseason, each task has been defined to perfection, even for the players, since the four goalkeepers know that in the afternoons, prior to the on-pitch training, they go through a rigorous workout with Abdón Calderón, the goalkeeper coach.
The work was very similar in the preseason a year ago, when the team reached the Final of all the tournaments in which it participated, so the goal is to repeat this feat in the Apertura 2017 and in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
