Focusing on the Current Opponent

SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, January 7th.- Since this weekend’s opponent is the Tijuana Xolos, the squad trained this morning on the club’s synthetic field located in the La Cueva, Zuazua, facilities.

As soon as last Saturday’s match against León had finished, the team were called to start training at La Cueva, specifically on the synthetic turf field, which mirrors the pitch in the Xolos’ Caliente Stadium.

Physical training started on this field with different exercise stations, keeping the Day Two match in mind. On finishing, the group was divided into four teams of six to play football on the smaller area of this field of play.

There were goals galore with the dynamism and intensity produced by the small space and the synthetic turf.

Hugo Hernández, together with Juninho, who has joined the squad to learn the profession from the sidelines, were in charge of the work, while manager Ricardo Ferretti observed the training session outside the pitch.

Aquino will be inactive for ten days

On Saturday, Javier Aquino injured a muscle in his right leg, and today’s imaging studies showed that he has a grade-one hamstring strain that will leave him inactive for 10 days.

As a result, Aquino won’t be traveling to Tijuana this weekend, but will be focusing on recovering instead, hoping to be available for day three against Cruz Azul.

Jorge Torres Nilo, who has been injured three times in two months, joined in the group work, having just recovered from an MCL sprain in his right leg. Before that, he had sustained a right-knee contusion and, in October, muscle fatigue in his right calf.

Meanwhile, Lucas Zelarayán is continuing his recovery process after a grade-two right quadriceps tear, with a prognosis of another two weeks’ recovery time.
