Historic landslide for Tigres Women
SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, August 19.- In a historic score in the Mexican Women’s League, the UANL Tigres de la UANL defeated 9-0 the León Esmeraldas del León, to reach the top of Group 2.
A double brace by Carolina Jaramillo, bringing her personal total to seven, and a hattrick by Blanca Solís guided the yellow and blue side to third place on the general table.
So far, this is the highest score on record in the Women’s League, together with Pachuca’s 9-1 defeat over Cruz Azul.
The match was quickly defined in the first half, between two unevenly matched teams, since by minute nine, Tigres was already ahead 3-0 in front of approximately five thousand Incomparable Ones who were accompanying them.
Carolina Jaramillo came out of the locker room with the necessary drive to score the first three goals, first with a header at 3’, then, at 6’, she took a free kick to defeat the goalkeeper and, at 9’, she brought her tally to three.
Being 3-0 ahead encouraged our players to touch the ball better on the pitch of the Universitario Stadium.
Blanca Solís appeared at minute 17 to score her first of the night, giving her side a decisive 4-0 lead. Three minutes later, Nancy Antonio also scored, off a mid-range shot.
Solís’ name came up on the scoreboard once more, at minute 23, with the sixth goal of an evening in which Tigres’ third victory in the Women’s League seemed to be developing extremely rapidly.
For the start of the second half, manager Osvaldo Batocletti chose to make two substitutions, sending Katty Martínez and Belén Cruz on, with the clear objective of maintaining the team’s control over the opponent.
As a result, at just minute 48, Blanca Solís received the ball in the box, sending the ball into the net just past the left post and making it 7-0.
Three minutes later, Katty Martínez, who had barely been on the pitch for six minutes, stole the ball and surprised the goalkeeper with a lob that brought the night’s score to eight.
Nayeli Rangel had an opportunity at minute 68 with a powerful shot from outside the goal area that went over the crossbar.
Carolina Jaramillo became the player of the evening when she scored her fourth in the match, making it 9-0 in a historic result that is the biggest margin of victory in the newly created Women’s Liga MX.
