Mejía Barón is now immortal

SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA | Friday, November 16, 2018.- Miguel Mejía Barón has entered a historic venue, where only football legends, national and international alike, can earn a privileged spot. On Tuesday, the Doctor, as he is best known in the world of football, was enthroned in the Football Hall of Fame.

In the hall, the names of ten coaches and players who also participated in the UANL Tigres are already carved in gold. In fact, a couple of years ago, Mejía Barón himself was in charge of presenting this very honor to the felines’ current manager,  Ricardo ‘Tuca’ Ferretti.

Mejía Barón had already sent a message to the Football Hall of Fame organization, thanking them for their vote, but he commented that he didn’t feel that he deserved an individual prize since he has always considered himself a man of team results.

On this occasion, ‘Tuca’ addressed the Doctor with some very moving words, indicating that he was his guardian angel and asked him to accept the award because he was of an incontrovertible caliber, like Luis García, a former player and the legendary Bora Milutinovic.

With the induction of Mejía Barón, who since 2014 has formed part of Tigres’ staff, a total of six managers who have worked with the felines have a place in the Hall of Fame – Manuel Lapuente, Víctor Manuel Vucetich, Enrique Meza, Carlos Miloc and ‘Tuca’ Ferretti.

In addition, players such as Luis Hernández, Jorge Campos, Ramón Ramírez and Claudio Suárez also belong to the select group of inductees who have formed part of Tigres’ history.
