Sights Set on the Opponent

SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, January 16th.- Sights are set on Cruz Azul, was the simple summary by Colombian Julián Quiñones of this week’s work.

“The team feels fine, very confident, Saturday’s match helped us to get back on track and I think that winning the three points was crucial. Now the team’s sights are set on Cruz Azul, who are coming here to win, which is what we want too, starting off well at home and this is our opportunity to give our all. The team is very focused, very united and this is reflected on the pitch,” said Quiñones, who has seen action in two Liga games.

Take advantage of the chance to play…

“I think it’s fundamental, I’ve always trained to the maximum for any opportunity the coaching staff might give me. This happened on Saturday, fortunately my teammates gave me their full support and fortunately we achieved the result (against Tijuana) we all wanted.”

He gets on well with Luis, but this is about the group…

“I’ve always got on well with Luis (Quiñones), but this is about the group level. We all work well and it’s not a matter of one player or two players making a difference, it’s the whole team that’s coordinated in the best possible way and we’re on the right track.”

Healthy competition…

“I think the competition is very healthy. This team has great players and if a player isn’t feeling on top form, then I think we have enough players to play in the same position, because we all work in the same way, so that if one day we have an opportunity, we can prove ourselves on the pitch.”

Not worrying…

“We’re going to think about ourselves, we’re going to play our game with them, without worrying that they are coming here to find their first win of the season. We’ll be the doing the same as always, trying to play as well as possible and going out to earn three points at home.”

No team is easy…

“In the Liga MX, none of the teams are easy, they’re all difficult, all the matches are different. One day you play poorly, one day you play well, but ultimately all the teams are the same.”

Leve the past behind…

“What happened last season is behind us. Now we’re focusing on this new tournament, on redeeming ourselves for not achieving great things last season. It’s a new beginning and we’re going to try to give our all so that those things don’t happen again.”

Talking on the pitch…

“Always being on the pitch is key and showing what the team can do, not talking off the field.”

Tigres is great…

“We know that this team is great, we know the quality of the players we have and we don’t have to prove anything to anybody. We have to prove to ourselves that this team is the greatest, that’s all.”
