Tigres hopes for their fifth League victory
SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA | Friday, September 16, 2016.- Tigres will be playing at home again this Saturday and will be doing so as the only unbeaten team in the 2016 Summer Tournament (Apertura), as the tournament’s sub-leader, and with Ricardo Ferretti, who is celebrating his 25th anniversary as a football manager in Mexico, at the helm.
Puebla will be coming to San Nicolás de los Garza in 12th place in the tournament, with 9 points resulting from two wins, three draws and three losses, as well as a 0-0 score from their last match against Tigres.
Meanwhile, the felines are undefeated so far in the Apertura, with four wins and the same number of ties, clearly pushing them upwards in the General Table, where they are just one point behind the competition’s current leader, and with an effectiveness of 67% in the League.
During this match, ‘Tuca’ Ferretti will be celebrating 25 years as a manager in Mexican football, having made his debut on September 15, 1991, with Pumas. At present he has been with the felines since 2010, leading the San Nicolás de los Garza team to two titles and at the forefront of both local and international championships.
Puebla is not an easy opponent. Even though they are ranked fourth in most goals against in this tournament, they also enjoy a positive attacking trend reflected in a total of 12 goals, which is similar to the challenge Tigres faced against Morelia.
Tigres continues to have the best defense in the tournament with just 3 goals against in 8 matches and, unlike the last tournament, they now have a greater attacking variety, with goals scored by even more players, including, André-Pierre Gignac and Ismael Sosa with 4 each, 2 by Javier Aquino and one by Guido Pizarro, reaching a total of 11.
