Tigres wants a third successive win in the Uni
SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA | Friday, August 26, 2016.- The Universitario Stadium will once more open its gates on Saturday, this time to host for Day 7 the Veracruz Tiburones Rojos, a team Tigres has historically defeated at home.
Not only can they boast 10 victories in 16 matches at the Uni, but Tigres will also be playing this match against the Veracruz side as the only unbeaten team in the tournament and with the best defense of the 2016 Summer Tournament (Apertura), as well as two players who are gradually forging their place on the top scorer table.
In the past three matches played in San Nicolás de los Garza, the felines have achieved two victories and one tie, so one more would not only mean consolidating their dominance, but also aspiring to an improved position in the General Table, where they are currently ranked third, just one point behind the tournament’s leader.
This will also be the felines’ third match at home in a week, since the previous fixture was against Pachuca and on Wednesday they hosted Plaza Amador within the CONCACAF Champions League, both of which were wins.
So far, Tigres is the only unbeaten team in the Apertura, having achieved three draws and three victories, with just two goals against, the lowest number in the entire League, and were just seven minutes away in their last match from breaking Cruz Azul’s record for zero goals conceded at the start of a tournament.
