Tigres wants to move up the table in Morelia

MORELIA | Friday, September 9, 2016.- Football is back on again after the FIFA fixtures and Tigres is facing a complicated away game in Michoacan against a Morelia that has been accumulating positive results and is in fourth position in the 2016 Summer Tournament (Apertura), just one place below the felines.

The team led by Ricardo Ferretti remains unbeaten in the seven fixtures of the tournament so far, while the Monarcas have lost just one match and since Day 2 have their results have been on a par with those of their opponent for this Saturday.  They only lost their very first match in the Apertura and since then have claimed the same victories and ties as the felines, even in the same order.

The universitarios (as Tigres is known) will have their latest transfer, the French striker Andy Delort, as well as practically a full squad for this match, which means that ‘Tuca’s’ men might be able to pull away from the other teams in this tournament, since a victory could send them far ahead in points from the rest of the Liga MX teams.

Of the last 11 matches between these two sides the felines have earned points in every match except three, winning six and drawing two. Regarding their defeats, two took place in Michoacan and one at the Universitario Stadium.

The latest result between Tigres and Morelia was in the last championship, where the felines defended their home on Day 2, with a 2-0 win from goals by Javier Aquino and André-Pierre Gignac.

Another important fact is that even though Monarcas, managed by Enrique Meza, is the team with the best offense in the Apertura 2016 with 15 goals, it also has the worst defense, with 13 goals against. In contrast, the universitarios continue as the best defense, having received just three goals.

It won’t be easy, but the duo comprised of Gignac and Ismael Sosa, who have four goals each, will be facing yet another challenge in Morelos, as will the defense led by Juninho and Hugo Ayala, in a match that promises goals and excitement, with the magnificent support of the Incomparables in the stands, since the latest reports indicate that they’ll be travelling by the thousands to support their team.
