We’re happy with Enner.- Directors

SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, January 17th.- Miguel Ángel Garza, president of the UANL Tigres, announced today that there are no offers for player Enner Valencia, so he is considered part of the team.

“Well, first of all, I haven’t seen a proposal on my desk about that and we consider Enner as part of the organization, and if he personally is looking for something, well, that’s fine, I hope he can bring an offer to the institution.

“As long as it’s good for us, good for the player, we’ll evaluate it, but I think the player is playing inside the institution and we’re happy with him,” he said.

Neither Arabia nor any other place…

“No, unfortunately we haven’t received anything from there. There’s always been talk. I think there are teams in Arabia that are interested in him; six months ago they wanted to approach us, I don’t know whether directly or through their representative or other people, but in the end nothing concrete came of it.”

Registrations are about to close…

“We’re used to this situation (hearing that there are teams interested in our players). The fact that registration closes on the 31st, that’s how it is for us. It doesn’t upset us or worry us. Our plans stipulate that our registrations close on the 31st, for both leaving and arriving.”

Content with the squad…

“None of the players have approached the directors or the coaching staff to ask to leave or be accepted and we’re content with that. I think our plans since the last tournament were to keep the majority of the players to have a good competition and that’s Tigres’ strategy.”

Improve gradually…

“There was a huge fuss over the first match because we drew with León and the ways the club played and I think that we need to improve gradually. We can say that we played a good match against Tijuana. The club expects results and, as the tournament progresses, improvement in growth regarding sports aspects and the team’s solidity shown at the end of the tournament to qualify and do well in the Playoffs.”

        Liga and Concacaf…

“We’ve always said that we have to aim for both tournaments and when talking about both of them, at the same time it’s somewhat ambiguous. I feel that we mustn’t neglect the Liga, we should aim for the championship in the Liga, be in the top four places. I think being in the top four spots is a priority and what happened last year isn’t repeated, the two eliminations for being classified below fourth place, we were eliminated, and also go for the international tournament.”
